Water Mill of Nepal
Water Mill, known as Pani Ghatta are indigenous technology used in Nepal utilizing the power of falling water. These mills are traditionally being used for grinding of cereals, mainly form maize and wheat. The Ghatta uses the principle of falling water in its mechanical part. Water channels are made to divert the water from the stream. In Nepal, it is estimated that there are around 25,000 Ghattas are still in operation today.![]() |
